Thanks so far and making clear new front springs needed.
the rears are not far of flat so probably need complete set, see pics and make comments please.
Is it best to change all 4 at same time money permitting.

As this is my 1st SJ not sure of standard ride hight, anybody got a standard 410 able to post pics or give me measurments front and back of standard hights, with details of where the measures taken.

having said that wanted to keep this standard but any opinions on a very very small spring lift being worthwhile or not, bearing in mind that I live in hilly hairpin bend country. also want to keep standard shocks and steering set up.This will be main transport during winter.

Have seen a few suppliers on ebay for standard springs at approx £ 130 a pair, does this seem reasonable. do they always come with all the rubber bushes top and bottom ?

also what are parabolic springs compared to " normal " or are they the same. a softer but wobble free ride would be appreciated. guess this is more to do with shocks.

Sorry so many questions, maybe when I have done the work I'll be able to start helping out.

£130 seems reasonable for a pair of new springs... I just paid £240 for a pair of llama 4x4 2" lift springs so its a lot cheaper than that! Although saying that, they do seem a lot more comfortable than standard springs!

Just one piece of advice, stay clear of heavy duty springs if you want a comfy ride

Any opinion on the rears, last legs or not ?

Yesterday spoke to an Italian popular supplier about springs. He said that multi leaf springs are cheaper but harder cos made of inferior steel but also that they have had made single leaf springs out of better grade steel that give a softer ride more suitable to road and slow off road driving. He said if competition off road and jumping then cheaper multisprings needed. These single leaf ones are for the rear also, cost about Euros 30 ( £25 ) more each one.
What do you think. £ 85 / spring versus £110 / spring
ever seen these single leaf jobs, especially on the rear.

Looked up parabolic, seems that they are just multi leaf but with gap inbetween spring leafs to eliminate friction between leafs ( leaves )

The rear springs are tired and if you fit new ones you would get a noticeable difference. I wouldn't say they were totally dead just yet.

They don't look completely flat and the springs aren't starting to curve over each other.

SJs have stronger springs on the back but its very rare an SJ ever runs with a lot of weight in the back. The majority of the time the front is heaviest due to passengers and the engine obviously so the front tend to die first.

personally, I don't trust single leaf springs

if it snaps, its game over. most of the time if you snap 1 leaf out of 3 you can keep going to get home at least!!

Parabolics are tapered.

My friends 410 had parabolics, they were nice & soft but were already past there best when be fitted 2" lift shackles & then add-a-leaf, in this photo you can see the flexing the wrong way! Any way to cut a long story short one snapped whilst travelling up a farm track (mild off road) which my effect my opinion of them, I personally would only fit them if I planned never to go off road, I would fit standard replacement items, although they may be stiffer than parabolics I'd have thought they would last longer
