Post by Curt » Sat Jun 01, 2013 11:16 am

hi, when i got this Lj the chap said, one of the water pipes was leaking, on filling it up, the water is coming from the bottom of the carb manifold ,under the thermostat houseing, it feels like a core plug , can seem to find it in any parts books, has anyone come across this, and where can i get one from. cheers curt

It's more likely to be the inlet manifold gasket, but if not....

thanks for replys, its not the gasket, you can feel the hole under the houseing, half the plug is rusted away, will take the manifold off,and post a pic, cheers.curt

If you can't find a core plug I probably have an inlet manifold ;)

had a hour on it this pm, got the manifold off, there must be a shaped spanner for 2 of the nuts on the underside, bent up a 12mm spanner that worked.. heres a pic 20mm cores took all 3 out while i was there. curt

No need to import inlet manifolds from the US, the f8a 800cc head is practically identical to the f10a 970cc head so you could just buy the inlet gasket for an Sj410, carry or Bedford rascal, they all run the f10a  I might actually have some new spare inlet gaskets.

If you have trouble getting the gasket its an easy one to cut yourself, just pop into your local motor factor and they'll sell you a sheet of gasket paper.

I used to get my core plugs at the local Vauxhall dealer for the rascal. I've never managed to find after market core plugs to fit a Suzuki yet.
