Knock from underneath

Post by castletyne » Mon May 13, 2013 8:14 pm

Just got my first Grand Vitara 54 plate i didnt notice anything until i changed the tyres now i have a knock its sometimes on an uneven road or when the front wheels drop down over a speed bump

Had a look underneath and the only thing i can see is the drivers side driveshaft took it to a garage they say theres nothing wrong but they can hear the knock but are unable to find anything

Took a little video of the movement on the drive shaft can anyone tell me if this is normal

Cheers

If that movement is along the splines then I think it's normal. It helps stop things getting jammed or banana'd.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Don't be offend by the obvious, but have you checked the wheel nuts? If it started after changing the wheels.....

It's a possibility.

Wheel nuts, loose calipers?

Not sure about vits, but steering linkage/dampers/shocks bushes/mounts?

I say stick on ramps / stands and start waggling things.
