I don't own an SJ yet but I plan on it later in the year.
My pride and joy is a mk3 Hilux with a 3.9 v8 in it and I'm about to splash some cash on putting a lexus v8 in her and a nice shiney respray. Once that is done then I won't be off roading her anymore and plan on having an Sj for chucking about the mud.
So I'm going to be lurking around here learning what I can about these magic wee machines before I buy one for exclusive off road use.
I canny fekkin wait.
Wee pic of my truck and an outing one day in Drumclog with a gaggle of Sj's
Looking forward to gettin to know y'all better.

to
club UK nice Hilux
turning it into a shiney show vehicle then are you?
I'm sure you won't regret getting an SJ but then I'm sure sure you've been in one and have seen what they can do enough to know that already.
Oh and your battery is nearly flat, might want to stick it on charge

Welcome to the club.
SJs are awesome! About the same MPG as a V8 too.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I don't think my Hilux will ever be a show truck but I'll still like to take more care of her once I've spent some money on her. The problem is that whenever I offroad her, I break something. Given that I'm a total dipshit with a spanner then I figured an Sj is the way to learn, oh and also, I love the wee things. Always have. First drove one 20years ago and vowed one day to own one of my own.
So I'll be going offroad with a mind to deliberately break my Sj so that I can learn how to fix it.
Should be good fun.

If your not mechanically minded how do you intend to fit a lexus V8. Presume it'll be a 4.0 or 4.3?
With lots of electrics.
SJ are dead simple. For simple people. Lol. I manage ok.

I'm paying a rather talented bloke to do the new swap. At the moment it is a rover engine. A 4ltr lexus and auto box fits in neatly. I've an old hilux surf that I'm raiding the transfer box from and by some freaky jap karma reason, it bolts straight onto the lexus autobox. The front surf prop then replaces the mk3 front prop and apparently, it all slips together nicely. It'll have twice the horsepower I presently have. Great for towing a trailer with an Sj on it me thinks.
As you guys will know, owning a 20plus years motor demands a bit of maintenance here and there and although the mk3 is notoriously easy to work on, I still keep breaking shit whenever I go near it. I really need to learn stuff. Hence the Sj idea. It's even easier to work on apparently.
I'm so fekkin excited about it. I need lots more beer and blethers, bonfires and camping, offroading and getting filthy.
Love it!
