steering free play??

steering free play??
i have MASSIVE amounts of free play on my sj its got spoa 2inch body lift z bar steering 1600 8v conversion vitara power steering pro comp steering shock absorber any ideas im new to the off road stuff

How much are you talking in inches from one point to another

Check the tie rod ends first for sideways and up and down play.
Also have a look at the rag joint at the bottom of the steering column.
I find best way is to jack the front up, get a mate to wiggle the wheel left to right.
You should be able to see how things move and spot which bit has a delay in movement due to the play.
