I'm not sure if anyone knows of this or its been put up before but anyone intrested in rules in a mot then have a look here.
I've just done my 2nd day of a 3 day mot course and this is the place for rules on mot,Some of it is abit hard to understand but its useful and amazing what u can get away with.

Like the wipers and washer jets dont need to work on my sj because it has a flip down screen

I know i don't need wheel arches or an exhaust heat shield for mot. When im on my PC later i'll take a closer read of it.

Cant you get done for having empty washers? would this get you out of that if you told a copper?

Police might have some thing to say about it but proff is written in that manual. A mot doesn't really mean a car is road worthy.A mot basically says the car has met the minimum requirements at the time of test. If your car fails a mot on a rear tyre . U can go round the corner and swop it with a front tyre and take it back and it will pass as only the failures will be checked on retest

Yeah it's a strange old setup. An MOT doesn't mean its road legal and doesn't really check any C&U issues either.

I'm gonna push my luck when i put 33s on and not bother making arches wider.

I'm off on friday so i'm gonna try and have a leaf through the MOT guide and see how the mods i have planned compare. Theres a few things i want to do and would like to know if they are MOT exempt or not testable items.

it was like being back at school
make sure before yout practical you get lots of practcse on a routeen doing an mot with a qualified tester

gaffer tape over rust us a good one. inspector can't see the rust and isnt allowed to peel the tape off. works for sharp edges too.

me old man is a tester an I used to assist on a daily basis.

I haven't had a chance to go through the info yet. I was just wondering though.

According to a mate of mine the rules have been changed for bikes and they no longer need silencers. All my MOT tester tells me is my Zuk can't be any louder than a similar car of similar age. So where do i stand on straight thru' pipes?
