What paint

I have every intention of painting every panel the same colour before the 2013 SCUK meet.

What brand paint do we all use, quite like Ferris' colour but i'd also quite like to go back to the original grey?

What have we all used? And how did we apply it? Brush, roller, spray gun?

Photos would be appreciated.

Cheers
Jordi

I used Polyurethane 2 pack Paint. Has lasted well. Has been on 3 years and still looks like this....

Its available online and comes in quite a few colors. Not sure if you can buy a metallic color though?

I used 1k polyurethane last time and rollered it on, this time I used synthetic and also rollered it on, if you roller it on and want a good finish, you need to thin the paint loads and do lots of thin coats so its quite slow. I think next time I'm gonna spray it

I normally spray it on. But its so labour intensive and needs a good few coats to get a decent finish.

Cellulose is the easiest to spray but isnt too easy to get a hold of now.

I'll have to have a shop about again

It depends what finish you want...any matt finish will just require some spray paint from your local motor factors. A good gloss finish is possible with tins, I did a mates SJ and one of my own with tinnies, costs about £100 which includes primer and lacquer. Just remember preperation is the key...smooth bodywork and very clean!

Battleship grey electrical transformer paint that went out of date in 1996. Brushed on top of red oxide primer.

Was disapointed at first but seems to have hardened over time. Best bit was the price and I love the colour.

Think the brush effect suits the colour. Its was black hammerite before which looked ok for a bit then starts to fade and stain easily.

ive painted 2 ov my cars now useing a roller and il b doing a 3rd soon.the first 1 i did was my e30 bmw.all i did was rub it down nice and smooth and got some small sponge rollers from wilkos and used satin paint.aparently satin doesnt leave streaks or runs like matt.i got the paint from trade paints uk i think.dint have to thin it down or nethin and you couldnt even tell it was put on with a roller.it must b good paint had it on my sj and it didnt chip off or nethin or even scratch that badly.i steam cleaned it with an industrial lorry cleaner and it was fine and i didnt even rub it down to paint it
