cigarrete lighter not working

went to charge my phone in my sj and found out that the ciggarette lighter doesnt work, how could i fix this?

Only works with the ignition on. Is the radio still ok as it's normally the same fuse.

you can unplug the cigarette lighter from behind and see if there is a 12v feed at the wires:) if there is then there could be rust the terminals. if there isnt it could be a broken wire.

mine didnt have a 12v socket so i just made up a new one and wire it into the ignition
, if not you could always take it straight of the battery and put in a fuse link

If you go on to Youtube there are some very good instructional videos on how cigarette lighters work and how to repair them. I fixed mine this way.

As they are fitted into plastic it is possible the earth wire is not connected. Multimeter's can be brought cheap nowadays and are a really useful little tool

had a look into it today had a look in the fuse box today and there is a fuse msising, but cant put one in as there no connection to hold a fuse and there is a wire to the back of ciggarette lighter

So why don't you find a positive feed either before or after ignition (as suits you) and put an inline fuse in to the positive feed?
