i am fitting an electronic ignition and need to know what wires do what, so if anyone can tell me by the colour of the wires or a wiring diagram it would be a great help!
thanks in advance...

I assume you have the correct coil for electronic ignition as well

i knew i could count on you having a diagram! lol and i need a new coil? i have bought a blacktop universal electronic ignition that wires into the original wiring which is why i needed the diagram...
and i have a sj410 is the coil wiring the same as the 413?

The 410 coil has a ballast resistor fixed to the side. This limits the voltage to the coil to about 9v I believe. This ballast resistor is by-passed under starting only. If it was fed 12v all the time I would expect it to overheat.
Any more info about the kit you have brought.
Diagram as shown in workshop manual (I haven't seen one with my own eyes
)
I would assume that it would have either black/yellow to solenoid or black/green to starter. Not both as they both do the same job of supplying 12v on start-up.

I would expect your kit to just replace the points so I doubt if you need to change the coil, I only suggested this as I assumed you had a 413 dizzy to fit
.

I think your need to fish out the diagram that came with it. A little strange as it still uses the points, but I assume it takes the current off them which will make them last much longer and therefore keep your timing correct for longer.
I always thought electronic ignition was to do away with the points

Had a look on fleabay and it says the 4 wires are power,earth,coil & contact breaker, so it's like this ??
