so basically if you can, then get your parts from a motor factors, not from someone on ebay that doesnt know what theyre selling..

I normally have the opposite experience.
Mind you I do use euro car parts.

I've had the same problem with a gearbox. It was supposed to be a straight swap, but no:
I needed a clutch bearing, a spigot bearing, a prop shaft and I had to make a custom gearbox mount.

There are actually 2 different radiator caps for SJs. Large and small!!!
I actually think the small cap rads seem to work better.
Maybe its just me

You do realise there's two types of brakelines for SJs, those ones could be for an old one with front drum brakes?
for later 410s with discs always check the brake lines are female to banjo fittings before buying.

see i understand there are different parts for different ages of vehicles but they even asked me the reg number to check and the guy selling the hoses was convinced they were for my sj, i suppose it doesnt help as going by the reg number usually doesnt come out right so for me its motor factors for suzuki parts and ebay for aftermarket parts like lights. stickers etc..
but just looking at the label on this i can tell its not for my 410..

Remember yours is an E reg so 26 years old
It could have had God knows what done to it in those 26 years, engine swaps, chassis swaps, body swaps the lot.
It may well be a very different animal now to what it was originally
I go offroading with a guy who bought a lovely Samurai softop thats sitting on an SJ chassis and axles, Samurai diffs and a 410 transfer box (supposedly it was in great ORIGINAL condition)

its mad, i just got my new headlamp bulbs and the ebay listing said H4 with the P45t conversion and when they came the other day they were just standard H4's, it really does anoy me when people dont know what theyre selling, but i know what you mean highlander, ive thought to myself a few times "is that even meant to be on this car" i have thought about upgrading the calipers to vitara calipers and adding a servo, very tempted to go down the 1.6 8v vit engine route as my engine and gearbox are both p*ssing oil everywhere...
