Indicators causing everything else to dim

Havent had a look at this myself yet but on a friends truck at work his indicators are causing everything in the truck to dim when they illuminate.

All the dials go down then up. Dash flashes when headlights are on. Fuel pump is pulsing to the same rhythm aswell.

Apparently he's checked earths and I quickly chucked a spare relay in it for him bit it was hammering it down so I sent him on his way.

Any ideas before I get very wet with a multimeter one day this week.

I know.

Thing is I work with him all the time and he's more meticulous about his work and a better fault finder than me so I kind of have to take his word for it!

Mind you I know where they are located so maybe I will sort it when I look on tuesday.

My truck has an earthing problem that I can't trace. It's losing 2 volts somewhere.

After running a fly lead from the battery negative to the rear bulb holders to see if it improved things (which it did) I replaced the earths to the rear lights.

No improvement.

Then had a brainwave that it wasnt doing the same on the front.

Whoever had fitted his engine had removed the main chassis ground and the front lights are earthed to the body.

Knocked up a link to go between the engine ground and chassis and all is now sorted.

MOT for him tomorrow then :salute:
