Hi all,
I just fitted some mk4 gti seats to my 410. They are securely bolted down but in order to keep the height right i had to remove to forward and back mechnism and bolt them straight to the floor. The new 2012 MOT regs state something about seat adjustments needing to move forward and back. Anyone know if it will pass or not?
Other than that ihe build is coming on great. Engine is running sweet after new points and a good service. Started the paint job to in unimog green.
Cheers
DOUG

Re: Bolted seats
I've got a feeling its if the seats are fitted with slides then they have to move. Think about all the cars with bolted down bucket seats on fixed mounts, they can't fail them all surely?

Re: Bolted seats
well, my seats in my escort and my KJA dont move, the KJA does sort of, using the built in height, moves the seat forward about an inch and up about 2, so in theory has adjustment,
I too will be curious as i have an mot in the next couple of weeks, i heard that the new rules are in effect as advisorys to start with then go live in april

Re: Bolted seats
The new MOT test states the seat has to be secure in all positions.
The seat back has to be secure. ie if like on the SJ it folds forward to allow access it must lock in position when its upright again.
If you seat is fixed ie. bucket seats bolted to the floor I assume that means it is secure in all positions.
The way I'm reading it is...
if your seat base has a forward and backward adjustment mechanisim then it MUST work, if its doesnt work its a fail, if it doesnt have an adjustment mechanisim its a pass.
No mention is made of up/down/tilt etc.

Re: Bolted seats
Common sense would say your right. - Why would it need to move if it fits right anyway. Just means that really short people cannot steel my car.
I also heard that they have made the brake test less strick this year aswell. Strange priorities...
I will let you know how it goes!
