410 transfer box

Post by nathan.stevens » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:29 am

right, my '86 410 has a really horrible grinding noise coming from the transfer box, i took it apart this morning and it seems that the bearing on the output shaft for the rear axle (where the transmission brake is) is the cause of the problem, i think! :er:
will it be easy to replace this bearing or am i better off just getting another transfer box? if the latter, will a 413 box drop straight in because i know that 410 boxes are like rocking horse sh*t.
many thanks, nathan

Rebuild it with all new bearings and seals :doublethumbs: you're better off with the 410 transfer box as 413s have higher gearing.

Gasket part numbers –
(Suzuki main dealer only)
Main Case - U29525A80050 x1
Front Case – U29535_80050 x1

Seal Part number/sizes –
38x50x8_TC R23 NBR x1 http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... 8&x=38&y=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
OS38x60x08 x2 http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/search.cgi ... 08&x=9&y=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bearing sizes –
6306 NR circlip grooved x1 http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... rds=6306NR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
22x56x16 63-22X_NSL x1 http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... ords=63/22" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
28x58x16 62-28 2RS x3 http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... ds=62%2F28" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
bearings sizes recognised by all bearing supliers.
