sj rear shocks

hi there i have done a 2 inch shackle lift and in the kit ihad rear shock extensions but they are crap they just keep coming loose allso my shocks have seen better days so im going to replace them with longer shocks my question is what length are they so i can go to local parts store and order them

the best way to work out what you need is using a hilift or similar, you lift one of the wheels off the ground to its a maximum articulation, you then measure between the mounting points, you then go round to the other side where the wheel is fully 'squashed down' and measure between the points there,

you remove the jack and repeat form the other side, voila you have your shock lenghts, they need to be able to have a working range more than the difference between your measurements and the body has to be smaller than the smaller of the measurements,

other wise you could take your shock absorber, measure it to full extent, then add 2" :lol:

Hi there,

What's been said above sounds good to me, but don't forget to get extended brake hoses as it'll make you swear if you over extend one!
