Sounds a bit pointless to me??? I don't really see how it could provide much of a advantage for anything really?? I always thought that one of the key things in offroading was to be in the correct gear for what you doing before hand and not going near the clutch, well that is off course unless you need to! like on a failed hillclimb! but i think it would be a lot quicker to use your feet in that instance!

also you dont need a clutch if your a good driver as all you need to do is mach the speeds to get it in gear.
ie start in 1st rev up an change up 2 2nd but as you come out of 1st you need to let the revs drop so they mach for the new gear an it will just slid in get it worng an it dont sound 2 good. change in down is the same but you need to bring the revs up. befor change in down.

rev up for down change
drop revs for up change.
or just fix your clutch

I suppose it is possible. Take a motorbike as an example of a hand clutch.

It would have to be mounted to the gear lever though, but I agree with the other comments.
