hi to all, just passed my test only 18 years old so be gentle with me
own a sj413, which ive spent some time on getting it road worthy, having trouble with the dip beam, side lights come on and main beam is alright, but no dip beam
not a sparky tbh any help appreciated

Hello regards your lights it may just be the bulb thats faulty or as with anything elecrtrical could be a miriad of probs. I had a similar fault with a rear lamp it turned out to be a very bad earth id check bulb and earth first.good luck

hi i take it you have checked all the fuses.
How good are you with a multimeter and how much do you know about electrical systems. Basically i would first check for a 12v supply at the headlamp connector. If there isnt one there check there is a supply to the fuse at the fusebox under the glovebox. If you have a supply there the fault must be somewhere between the fuse and the lamp. At least that will narrow it down.

Check that your switches are working properly. There are two. One is the main on/off switch, and the other is the dip switch. One of these may be knackered.
Another thing to check is the wiring. Are any cables chafed or broken. Also check the fuses.
