Hi there, you might have posted in between the last backup and the website going down, therefore lost all your posts. we now backup the forum every night so we shouldn't ever have that problem again hopefully!

Firstly what model is your sj and what engine is it running?
If anything as the engine revs increase the alternator should kick out a bit more power, not less?
Is the alternator belt in good condition, tight enough and not slipping at higher revs

If it's ok then i'm thinking either a problem with the idle up system (if your sj has one), the alternator could need new brushes or the battery is weak.

Your sj doesn't have an idle up system in that case so that rules that out, test the alternator output throughout the rev range it shouldn't drop, if it does I would imagine that's where the problem is.

Is that the model with the seperate voltage regulator unit, IE not built into the alternator.
