That's pretty poor actually, something might be wrong, like it's pumping in too much fuel i.e. running rich. Most people seem to get 30+ (depending on mods, engines, gearboxes etc.)
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Really??? I was lucky to get 28mpg in my 410 and that was set up perfectly.

If it is set up correctly and you drive gently you should see 25 to 28 mpg from my experience. if you rev it quite a lot and do a lot of stop/start (i.e. town) driving your going to see low 20s.

It does sound to me like it needs a bit of a tune up (unless as said above you've been driving it hard)

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Out of interest how is your front winch mounted? has the bumper/mounts been reinforced as I would not trust a cut down standard bumper and the standard mounts to stay attached for very long under large winching forces. Not having a dig, just being concerned for yours and others safety thats all!

Oh, well, alright then, ignore me. I was just repeating something I remember reading on the forums about people getting 30mpg. I guess it depends how you drive, where you drive and what you drive. A fifth gear will help fuel economy, if you don't have one, but from what people have told me (I've been considering getting a 5 speed box for mine) the little trucks don't pull well in top gear.....then again, why would they, it's a cruising gear.

I think some people do exagerate (spelling?) their mpg figures on forums. My 1.6 8v is pretty bad as i know the carb is a bit dodgy and I have got the drag of two transfer boxes and 33s.
