Hi,
I have been planning to put a vitara 8v engine into my samurai for a while, but when I was removing it from a scrapped vitara there seemed to be way too many wires connecting to the engine, which i no my sj loom wont have. They were mainly connecting to the carb, has anyone done this before or can give any advise.
Cheers.

Just make sure it is the carb engine (a big black round filter on the top of the eninge) and not the 8V EFI.

Only wires that i can think that will go to the carb (off hand) is the fuel cut of switch and possibly an idle up.

I would just cut these wires of, get the engine in. The standard 1300 carb should have a fuel cut of switch, then just wire it up. I didnt bother with the standard vit carb, chucked that away and smacked the su on... 10 times better.

Can you post a pic up of the engine if you are not 100% sure that it is the carb over the EFI?
