hi my names daniel im new to the site i have owned my sj410 for a year now and was smashed in during all the snow by a car driver going to fast which resulted in a bent rear axel , i got hold of a very low milage 95 fuel injected samurai engine ,axels , gearbox. i have fitted the axels after getting new leaf perches and got the engine and 5 speed gearbox in and have now come across another problem when starting the engine for the 1st time . the engine was fuel injected and was electronic ignition so have left the exsiting sj410 coil and resistor in place and put a sj413 inlet manifold and carb on the engine and put the distributor off the sj410 engine on but when turning over to check that it runs before fitting the radiator and putting on a new cambelt it fired and then died after a few seconds, i turned it over a few times and does this every time , also the resistor on the coil got really hot ( smoking ), which i do not understand as both coil and distributor were never a problem on my 410 engine that i took out , also the inlet manifold and carb were sourced from different people so think i may have a vacuum line in the wrong place , any help/advice from anyone who has put a sammy engine in a 410 or anyone knows what i am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated as i need to get my little suki back on the road and hit some greenlanes and 4x4 sites while the suns out .

Hi

Welcome to the site.

Im not to hot on the electrics, but i would say you need the 413 coil. Although im guessing the 413 would not have had one for efi.

I would say that it would be worth fitting a 413 coil and dizzy as they have electronic ignition and no points etc. however it should work with a 410 coil and dizzy?

Right as for your starting problem it might be that the 413 carb/inlet manifold has a fuel stop solenoid fitted, usually this has a green or brown connection and will kind've look like a sender unit with two wires coming from it on the inlet manifold somewhere???? if it has one then you need to give it an ignition live feed.

Is your SJ a jap or spanish one? if its jap then any wire that is black with a white tracer will be an ignition live feed, might be the same on a spanish but i'm not sure???
