Question for those that are knowledgable about such things:-

"Is it possible to replace a Spanish rear brake set-up with a Japanese system?"

Comments etc., appreciated. Thanks.

Yes but there isn’t much point, Lucus/Girling brakes are fine and there would be no benefit swapping over.

Reason for the question was I had been led to believe that, Spanish rear brake parts were difficult to source. My plans for a rear disc conversion could be delayed, so if a rebuild was necessary could Japanese be substituted.

It seems that Spanish parts are readily available so I will research options.

It’s probably more work to swap out drum brake set ups than it is to convert to discs.

The backing plates are different so you need to press off the rear locking collar and bearing (not an easy task without damaging the bearing) swap the backing plate and press them all back on again. All the internals are different and the outer drums are different.

Comments taken onboard. Thank you.
