Hola, as they say here in the colonies

Ex-pat Brit from Cambridge living in Chile - buying a 1995 SJ413 & with luck it'll pass tech inspection tomorrow so I can go play.

Car seems to be in great condition considering its age. Being old isn't a crime & its so dry here that things don't rust.

I miss mud so I'll just have to go get it stuck in the desert, or some spanner time sorting it out, either way it'll be fun.

Only fault was suspension bushes, pretty good for a car with more mileage than the Space Shuttle. With luck I get it back this afternoon.

Third-Party Insurance $5390 Pesos (almost a Fiver!), Road Tax $24500 Pesos (almost 23 quid)

LOL :-)

Here in the colonies the highways are toll roads & quite expensive, so there's that...not that it'll be spending much time on highways.

Sounds like cheap motoring.

So here's one thing that's clearly not in the Chilean MoT - play in the steering.

No kidding, give the steering wheel almost a quarter turn and exactly nothing happens. I'll be tweaking that adjuster on the steering box :-)

Title transferred this afternoon :-)

Things to sort out, some muppet had been in the wiring to install a 'kill switch' - so badly done it was a 'break down in the middle of nowhere switch'.

It also had a Warn winch that was stolen so there's dangling wires. I'll remove all that & maybe cobble together a hydraulic winch, I have a pump & motor laying around from another project. One day, eventually.

Oops, I'll be needing a new one of those...although, I have a wrecked Nissan D21 & its hubs look identical.

EDIT: Nope, wont work, Nissan hubs are 28 spline & that's two too many.
