I have a 2004 2lt diesel Suzuki Grand Vitara which I have virtually from new. It has 60000 miles on the clock. It is well maintained but it kicks out black smoke when you accelerate hard.
It has a vacuum egr vale but not sure it is working or not, other than that it runs very well.
Does anyone have any ideas or can point me in the right direction

I am not really 'au fait' with your particular engine.
Might be worth covering some basics ?
How old is the air filter ?
It might be worth putting some cleaning additive in the fuel tank - I usually use the Millers Diesel Treatment - other people swear by Fortes.
The Fuel Injectors might not be working quite as well as when new - which is partly why I suggested using a fuel system cleaning additive.
