Wanted LJ80 sump etc ?

Hi, I picked up an LJ 80 a few months ago in boxes. Slowly putting it back together and getting to the point of putting a SJ410 engine into the LJ. Reading the various topics it says I need a LJ80 sump and pick up pipe..........? Where do you get them from ........? I have tried a few people selling LJ stuff but no luck.
Are there any other options, turn the SJ 410 sump 180 degrees? sump off an alternative engine ? cut and weld ? large hammer. Any advice very much appreciated.

I am not sure I can believe this.......! That is an unreal response seeing as I only posted the question yesterday. If you have an LJ80 sump that is worse for wear I would be really keen to know about it.

Lots of forums are falling by the way side, this one is still pretty much live and kicking still ;)

Scottie, I am guessing that you do not have a spare sump? I can see from the 'too many projects', that you may have a need for one in the future, if you have just been too busy to look I am more than happy to wait.
Otherwise if any one knows how to overcome the sump 'problem' that would be great. Will the Vitara sump fit on the F10 block? Daewoo, matiz, anything else use the f8a.

Wait a minute.......did you say you have 2 or 3 F8a engines. We probably need to talk if you are thinking of selling one, what are the advantages of the F10 over an F8? (apart from 200cc of power). and is there life in the f8s etc etc. Just as an aside I have 1 original seat for an LJ80, would you have another in your unit???

Scottie, if you are able to get back to me re possible sump that would be really great, ever so keen to get this old girl moving. (before the pigeons bury her in ........!!!)

Have I seen or only imagined a forum entry to change the F8 unit to F10. I do not think I have made it up but I cannot find it again. Do I need to consider the following when swapping these units:- 1. Sump 2.oil pick up pipe 3. distributor housing? (is this a must?) 4. spigot bearing. 5. shorten spigot shaft. 6. exhaust manifold (?)
How relevant are they all and is there anything else?????

I am getting worried that Scottie has locked himself in the unit?

I am at a bit of a stand still with the LJ as I do not want to pull the engine out of the SJ410 without knowing that it will fairly quickly go into the LJ as the bits have a habit of spreading out and taking over.

So currently I have an LJ looking like this and a donor SJ looking like this.

I would be very happy to take on a worn out F8a engine, partly for the vital bits, but also as a rebuild project.

sorry bud, i haven't been on the website for ages. I thought i had more but ive only got 2 F8s with sumps fitted, i'm not 100% sure if i actually want to let one go but i'll have a good think about it as i know you are quite desperate for one. i'll also ask a mate that might have somehting.
