Hi from Newcastle upon Tyne

Hi all, new member from Newcastle upon Tyne. Just purchased an 04 suzuki ingis (1.4 auto). This is my first suzuki and I've just had it to the garage for a new water pump.
Prior to that, whilst out with work, I noticed the car was overheating and when I pulled over there was steam jetting from the plastic tank (header tank?)
Now I've tried searching on the internet to see if the mechanic I used is correct, or am I destined to keep overheating?.
Apologies if this is in the wrong place, just very stressed with it.
