This is my engine....it's not what the LJ80 came with I know, but when the did the engine transplant did they fit the right coil .....it started and ran in a fashion for a while and now it dosn'nt....I suspect the coil but this engine appears to be listed with a coil with another bit on top (technical name forgotten!)
Anyone any idea what type of coil it should be for this engine
I'm pulling my hair out with this anus.....it's been almost 18month of heartache and I'm still not there,

You typed in J e e p but without the gaps
Think that's the 1.0L engine, the coil normally has a ballast resistor on the side to lower the voltage to the coil under normal running conditions which is bypassed on cranking to generate a bigger spark.

I believe a 410 would have a coil like this....

Has the distributor got points? If so then yes you have the wrong coil fitted and it’s probably fried the condensor and points.
I have loads of f8/f10 coils for the points type distributors if you want me to send you one to try?

Many thanks..I suspected it was an old coil as fitted before the engine swap...can I just buy a generic coil from ebay with a balast unit? and can't find the condenser, where is it?

The distributor will only have a condensor if it’s a points distributor. You need to check which type of distributor is fitted before ordering a coil.
