Jimny gearing for 33+ tyres

Hey up folks,
So i've finally made the plunge and landed a jimny currently on 33s but with standard diffs and transfer box.
Obviously i can get hold of a different ratio transfer box but wondered if there were any other tricks? I see the vvt diffs have a different ratio than standard - can't remember the figures now...
My usage would be pay and play but driving there and then a bit of green laning...
Thanks

Running 33s I would probably look into fitting an SJ transfer box. Much stronger and lower ratios available.

You are going to want a lot more than just lower gearing for 33s on a jimny.
I would start with a 4.16 sj transfer box, aka a rocklobster., then some vvt or auto diffs to lower the ratios a bit more.
Then you are going to need some uprated shafts and CVs. The stock ones barely handle 31s

Don't quote me on this, but don't a lot of Jimny owners swap in SJ axles because they're stronger? I may be wrong, but I *think* I remember reading that.

Problem is sj axles are also narrower.

Sammy axles or 413 axles are narrower?
The Jimny has a wider track than the Sammy?

Hehe...
The chap i bought it off has had it 6 years on standard box and axles so he's either been lucky or very careful..
I suspect i will be much harder on it so will find the limit of things
It seems a few folk are using the trail gear 6.5:1 set up. That in itself obviously affects other areas and of course the gearing on the road which frankly one doesn't want to go too quick in it for fear of certain death!!

That's a popular problem where they split. Seen quite a few shear the mounts off too now. Just truss them, bits4vits sell them cheap!!

Doesn't look like a great joint to be honest....
