If you're willing to import from India - their version is common as you like - millions of 'em over there.

They're rare in Romania too, I haven't seen a single LWB here, and I've done gone travelled to multiple cities (Cluj, Targu Mures, Sighisoara, Brasov, Cockroacharest - sorry, I mean, Bucharest, Constanta etc). Done a lot of the sightseeing too, and keeping an eye out for interesting Zuks. Not many Sammies here, a few more Vitaras and Jimnys. But no LWB SJ's. Not saying that there aren't any here at all, but I haven't seen any and I've been looking for 'em.
Romanians love their cars too. And public land is unrestricted to traffic, meaning that you can pretty much offroad anywhere that isn't some farmers field. So you see a fair few offroaders out here.

Not that I've seen, but I don't know for sure. Considering that it was all iron curtain and Warsaw pact here when the LJ was being sold, I'd imagine not many at all. In fact, I should imagine most of the SJ's here are relatively recent imports - the revolution was in 89. If it's not a Dacia, it's probably not originally from here unless you are talking about the last couple of decades.
I've seen a few Lada Niva's, but I don't think they were importing even from Russia back then - Russia and Romania have always HATED each other, even during the Warsaw pact years.
The most famous road in Romania, the Transfagarasan, was built to better move troops in case of a Russian invasion, after the Ruskies invaded Checloslovakia.

I think they are all custom made by a company in Indonesia somewhere.
