Is it fitted with a wedge?
What size tyres are you running, is the lock bad because they catch the springs or does it just not turn enough?
I run a vit box and have full lock both ways.

It should turn to the point that one of the rear bolts on the knuckle seal retaining plate makes contact with the axle.
Can you get some good pics up showing how much lock you have each way.

Photos of the pitman arm and steering damper may be handy. I guess you had a standard box before and know it isn't a different steering damper has been fitted and doesn't have enough travel?
