Dear All
Can anyone recommend a good quality lift shackle kit for an 1986 SJ410?
I would like a gentle lift 2" or a little less if possible, not looking to gain any more than that.
Any suggestions much appreciated
Best regards

Just keep the standard shackles, lift shackles have more negatives than positives and provide no extra clearance for larger tyres

Waste of money really. Get some better springs they will improve the suspension and probably improve the ride. Shackles will just make the ride worse and mess up the steering

Thanks guys, I am learning.
Scottie J, what do you mean keep standard shackles? Do you mean dont mod it and keep it standard or can I do something with what I have to raise things up a little? Sorry if dumb question.
Twiss, what is involved in what you suggest? Is it easy to do and how much do the boys cost? Any recommendations?
Thanks again for the advise.

He means to mod other things and not the shackles... I run slightly longer cos I run lift springs that are slightly longer than standard ones.
They keep the shackle angle close to stock (around 45 degrees). Extended shackles usually end up vertical, and when going over bumps you are bouncing on the springs.
With a bit of shackle angle the shackle moves to absorb some of the impact.
As for the springs... I got mine from Llama 4x4 but I'm not sure he's doing them any more. £430 for a set of 4 but highly worth it.
You could get a set of 2" lifted REAR springs, put them on, then take the old rears and fit them on the front (they are longer than the normal front springs)
Then you will end up with about a 2" lift all round for about half the price. There is some fabrication work involved though.
I've already been through the cheapest options... lift shackles, add-a-leaf.... and there is no replacement for extra length on the springs!

With the size tyres that you plan to run (from reading your other thread) there should be no need to add any lift in the suspension.
If you don't plan on any serious off-roading then there's no need to play with the suspension, the standard suspension will be fine for everything you'll do in it.
