Hiya all! Just registered as, all being well at the Trafico office tomorrow, I'll be the owner of an SJ413 Samurai shortly. I see I'm not alone as I saw at least one other Spanish member - Frenchy? I'll also be interested in the difference between the European and Spanish models and how that effects parts etc. Not necessarily into the idea of off roading (need to brush up my very rusty mechanical skills before I start breaking things!), I've mainly bought it as a hobby, and to potter down to the beach with the top off but wondering if there's a Spain equivalent of green laning. May investigate...

There are 3 different SJ's, the narrower tracked SJ413 (built in Japan) and the wide axle SJ413 Samurai with some made in Japan, and some made by Santana in Spain. They're mostly the same, and usually parts from one will swap onto the other.

And don't assume that because you're in Spain you have a Spanish built SJ. It didn't quite work like that! AFAIK, it's more about the date your SJ was built than where it was sold.

Ta for welcomes. Right, got me new toy today, a bit scruffy but then I guess it's about 28 years old! Haven't spotted any serious looking rust. I'll attempt to put some pics up so if you're looking at them now, it worked! Ah it didn't, I need to host em somewhere first...oh, no I don't, I can add them By 'eck they're a bumpy old ride! The whole thing seems to shimmy a fair bit when it hits about 40mph so maybe something needs looking at there.

The wobble at 40mph is not normal, it's probably a wheel bearing or a kingpin bearing in the front axle, or maybe just the wheels need balancing. Jack the front end up and try wobbling the front wheels around - if there's play, you need to fix something - otherwise it's probably just your wheels need to be balanced.
