Leather straps in rear footwells

Does anyone know what these straps are for? They're about a foot long (one on each side) and only one end is screwed into the side of the rear footwell behind the driver and passengers doors. The other end is flapping loose but looks as though there is a slit in it to fix to something... They are fixed at a 45 degree angle to the floor.
If my description is unclear (probably!) I can take a pic of them.
Thanks folks

Pretty sure they are for holding the rear seats up when folded and in the lifted up position to make maximum space in the boot floor area

Yep for the rear seats, are they still intact they usual split? The rear seat should have a white bobble that the strap fits over

Thanks for the replies. Yes they're still intact - The zuke is in really good condition and I don't think it has done much work. I'll check the seats soon for white bobbly bits!!!
