So does anyone know much about these rare little
Lumps? I now have two in the workshop but can't seem
to find much information on them.
I know they are found in swift 4x4s which again
Are a rare car so info is limited.
I've only found a few forums discussing these engines
And our resident rhinoman is the most informative
Person commenting on them.
So any help on them would be awesome.

I think you can convert SPI 1.6 16v engines to carb, like Twiss has done - not sure how different they'd be to that. What exactly do you need to know, buddy?

I was just looking for any info really.
I couldn't really find much apart from
It was only really sold in Canada and
some in Europe. Also it's between maybe 90 and 100bhp
I think the injection lump is 95 so I'd guess carb is a few bhp
Less.

These carb'd lumps are where the inlet
Manifold for twiss lump came from
And Tim welded an adapter on for an su
To be used. The heads look identical
to the injection one but without the injector
Ports.

Hmm...didn't know there were 16v carb engines. Seems a bit of a retrograde step as injection is surely way way better. If the 16v has 95bhp what does the 8v have?

I *think* the 8v has similar torque to the 16v though. And since 8v is supposedly better for low end torque (Toyota still makes 8v diesel engines today!) the 8v might even be a tiny bit better for low end.
*might*...

Mine is a swift single point injection inlet... although I don't think there is any reason you couldnt put a weber onto it, if you could get it to bolt up
Maybe some kind of adapter spacer plate... Don't really know though as I haven't seen an un-SU'd manifold

Yea the two I've got I believe one is
A carb and the other is a single point.
The carb is a much simpler design.
Almost su like but laid flat.
