HI , Just got my Suzuki back home and ive run around a bit and found two problems , The first is it wont allways start on the key first time , its not that it isn't firng its that the key wont actually allways go to the firing position , if I fiddle about and keep taking the key in and out it will eventually turn , any ideas please ???
the second is the engine revs high at idle , about 3000rpm , I drove it round for a while and it cam eback to idel , but then took it out again later and it wouldn't come back to idle , im thinking this could be a sticking cable throttle ??? again any help would be very much appreciated .
Thanks G

First problem sounds like a worn key or ignition.
Second one. If you still have the standard Aisin carb on it, then that's the problem. Mine used to do that, one minute it would rev high, and then the next it might keep stalling. Have a look for a different carb, SU, Weber etc... It could be the cable though, just disconnect it and see if it still does the high revving.

BRILLIANT , Thanks for the advice , ive had a look through the old reciepts and every year it had gone back for carb problems , so you could be right a change of carb may do it , ebay ??
I guess the second problem would probably mean a visit to the scrapyard ???

SU HIF 44 carb is the most reliable but does require the manifold modifying.
A lot of carbs off older Daihatsu charades, Subaru Justy and Hyundai pony carbs are straight swaps, they are more reliable than the Suzuki carb but don't like being dunked in water a lot.
Fairly sure jimby bits do a lock and key set.

ok great , so there are other options rather than su or weber ?? I wont be dunking in water as this will be used more as a shooting car and not a green laner
