new to wiring/ colours? new side indicators

Hi, just looking to crimp on some new indicators, original ones have green and black wires on, the new ones i have got have black and yellow wires, i have never done any wiring before but reading a colour chart the green wire and yellow wire arent the same? this mean i cant attach my new indicators? or black to black green to yellow or something else?

Unless they are LED (as they are polarity sensitive). If they don't work black to black, green to yellow try swapping the wires - green to black, black to yellow. Then you should be ok.

Most be vechles I have done wiring on lately the factory green is ground. And on the new indicator black is ground. But that's only required if your using LEDs if it's standard incandescent bulbs either way will work

I have a few different LEDS (most of which were crap and I didn't use) and some of them are bidirectional and some aren't.

The ones I have in my side indicators (the ones usually on the wing) are bidirectional - if I turn them around in the socket, they still work.
