So this may be the replacement for the Grand Vitara.
I quite like it apart from blue in the wheels.

Those sales figures are awful, its not that long ago that they were posting record sales figures, including two months of over 100K sales.

They need to bring the SJ back! Wouldn't be hard, just start exporting the maruti gypsy over here with suzuki badging, they're obviously still capable of building them, just add a few improvements...

Airbags, Sierra style dash, alloy wheels? Maybe use the m13 engines and a sport version with a m15?

Now that would be cool...

Unfortunately with the engines they build gypsies with Im pretty sure they won't meet current emissions standards.
I was looking at a lot into the Gypsy Escapade... they are putting a nice new Euro IV emissions compatible engine in it, despite the fact that over here they will be introducing Euro V next september, which it probably won't meet!

Unfortunately they don't seem to put the jimny engine in, which would have been the best idea imho!

As for vehicle type approval.... not sure what they would say about that!

I think it would be great with the more modern swift/jimny/ignis M series engine that would meet emissions specs, airbags would be a good start for safety feature but it's just weather they're safe in crash tests, I'm sure they would be alright since the jimny isn't much different is it?

To be fair, the Jimny isn't a bad replacement for the SJ, but I think they should look at making a LWB 5 door Jimny, and a pickup variant too.

Unfortunately they made a big mistake with the jimny...
making it look like even more of a hairdressers car than an SJ!

I never understood that. The early Jimnys looked a bit girly I'll grant you, but the SJ is a no nonsense machine and the new shape Jimny looks a lot more aggressive.

I disagree it's a bit crap compared to the SJ apart from the coil springs but even then it's radius arm set up is far from ideal and not a great design.

Weaker front diff
Weaker front shafts and CVs
Weaker chain driven transfer box

But I would still have one
