Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm a new Jimny owner, In short I'm after 2 things. Firstly how do I identify what engine is in my model/year Jimny. Secondly I have a engine troubles. The last couple of trips out in the Jimny it has displayed the same symptoms, Gets hot, fluctuating RPM, stuttering juddering engine, then it dies, I let it cool down for 10-15 minutes then it starts up fine. I've read it might be either the crank shaft sensor, the cam shaft sensor or both but I need to identify the engine for the right parts. Can any one help or offer any further advice.

Surely if you need spares for it just give the motor factors your reg number...

Has it got coolant in it? (Bit obvious but you never know).

I have a early jimny 2000 W reg and a new cam sensor fixed the problem.
Around £40 from local motor factors. Its at the back of the head on the engine aka nearest the windscreen, unplug the wiring plug and think its held in by 1
12mm bolt.

My one only has a cam sensor..

M13 engine has flat top with a plastic cover over the plugs and coils. G13BB has an alloy cam cover with exposed coils. In any case the engine number will be on the V5c

Mine looks to be the G13BBas its the alloy top version. Where exactly is the cam sensor located? I've bought one now I just need to find it to fit it?

Its at the back of the head.

hello to every body i am a new member.and need help with your expertise just bought a 2002 jimny for my girl friend. she got a got knackerd engine.thats the car not the girl friend the engine is g13. and i have chance at a low mile m series twin cam engine none vvi would go in to my jimny cheers

It would be a complex swap and would need the gearbox, wring loom and ECUs as well as a number of other parts.

thanks for your advice i wil look for a g13 engine . i have a g13 engine its older than the original engine it has not got a crank senser at the front of the sump just under the pully could i modify it
