Hi,
First off let me make it clear i know this is no racing car, and infact i dont care much about the top speed, as long as its "normal"... i can just about get 60kph out of my car, which is about 40mph... is this normal?? (this is in 2wd mode)
If its normal i will live with it, as i said, i bought it to go off road, not racing. but i would of though it could do more than 40mph!
Cheers,
Courior

it should do 100kmh, my one is a sj410, also with a 4 speed box, and will do 100kmh on a flat road

Thanks for the reply mate. I am correct in assuming then that parts from an SJ410 will be the same for my MG410?
Cheers

If it's in a good state of tune you should be able to hit 65-70mph but that is on a long flat bit of road.
Should Easily cruise along at 55-60mph.
I would give it a good check over. Check the timing, Plug gaps and set the carb up.

Well i took it out today finally after getting the paperwork done and i got it to show me 95kph on the clock but it was slightly up hill, but it was still accelerating, if only just lol. So i think the motor is ok!
I do get a really bad hesitation when pressing the pedal for example in between gears, when the revs have dropped, and you let the clutch bite the next gear then give it power, it gives a BIG cough like turning the ignition off for half a sec, then it revs great.... if i blip the throttle to keep the revs up or accellerate VERY gently it doesnt do it... its like the accelerator pump in the carb (if it has one) is giving it too much fuel.

If you have balls of steel it'll do 90 miles an hour, downhill, with a following wind.

haha maybe on UK roads... but here there are not many roads that u can do more than 50mph, the tarmac melts and it becomes a bit wavy. The Maruti with its leaf suspension is a bit bouncy to say the least. Ive had the back wheels completly leave the floor after a few big dips!

I havent been to malta for a good 5 years... but from when I remember when you are out in the sticks the roads are pretty track-like
Shame they got rid of the old buses! Even though they were just old sweat boxes!

The roads are a LOT better now than 5 years ago... I moved here in 2008 and the difference is night and day with regards to road conditions. But still they prefer to patch it then redo it properly.

hey mate, I had the same problem regarding the throttle problem, ans the accaleration pump on the carb was not working at all. I opted to replace it with a su hs2, out of a mini clubman 1000, and it runs really sweet now
