Idling speed
Idling speed
Hi to you all
Just wondering if someone can help me,
I have an LJ80 fitted with an SJ410 engine I have had problems for some time with the idling speed of the engine, and then cutting out All together, tried all various means of cleaning carburettor checking all visual items on engine and now continuously turning without firing again have checked all normal items
I have now eventually changed the carburettor fired up first time running perfectly but now After two days running it reverted back to the EXACT same problem as before
Any ideas
Thanks Bedoin

Re: Idling speed
New one just fitted but I'll check again thanks
Re: Idling speed
Perhaps I should have added to post the problem only arises when the engine is warm
Thanks

Re: Idling speed
Had a feeling you ment when warm. My old SJ did it for a while once it got warm. I traced it to the coil, once it got warm would just stop, put a new coil on and the problem was gone.

Re: Idling speed
Just another enquire with the regards to the coil on the sj410 I purchased a new one from my local Motorfactors price £ 30 wondering if it was working properly I checked with suzuki specialist site and it's priced at £72 ? Is there a different spec to the sj coil to normal one ,just a thought I'm not what you might call the technical type

Re: Idling speed
Its possible that someone might have put a 413 electronic ignition on there when they put the 410 engine in
If so and you put a 9v 410 coil on there is would probably knacker it?
Do you have a ballast resistor fitted?
I would also give the choke a wiggle by hand to make sure its moving freely and not getting stuck
The 410 carbs seem pretty reliable but you never know

Re: Idling speed
Have you changed the condensor and points on the dizzy.
Re: Idling speed
Hi guys
I'm running normal distributor system ,ballast resistor old but fitted ,choke all fine on and off good return , new condenser . She now won't tick over now from cold unless you keep her over 1500 rpm ? On the choke ,doesn't just stop but stalls the only things I haven't changed are the high tension leads. Can't take her out as after several stops VERY difficult to start ill post a photo of her she needs to be on the road

Re: Idling speed
What are the points like? Are they set to the correct gap? I would maybe throw some new leads and a new ballast resistor on there.
Where Actually are you? There might be someone local that could pop over and help you out.
