Haters gunna hate

Post by ROBBIE » Mon Mar 24, 2014 10:02 am

So as most know I had to sell the SJ :pissed: :argh: :bawling:

The plan was save some cash sell the wife's ugly pugly (horrid little gutless heap of 1.9 crap that dosent even have a turbo, unless someone local is reading this, then it is a fantastic little run around that does 50 to the gallon  )

Then with all that done look for another 4x4.

Now got to be sensible about this.

Its got to be comfortable and have space for two old gits, the Mrs and me. So no SJ this time

So its got to be a proper 4x4 like the SJ, ie 2 Axles, and 2 sticks on the floor 1 for gears, 1 for a transfer box. And have an old diesel, I know everyone hates it but I like the fact you can chuck any old crap in it and they still work ;)

The wife wants a Pajero, but only 1 axle puts me off.

Prehaps a Surf, but again see above

So this says to me Hilux pick up. 2 reasons always wanted a pick up, and Hilux imo are cool :guns:

Ive joined HPOC to get info on this and come to the conclusion I want a MK3 or MK4, but wifey wants more seats. For kids and grand kids???????
The kids are all grown, two married with their own cars and one at home with a fiat punto so why do we need more than two :er:

Well OK the MK4 double cab it is :doublethumbs:

But this is like rocking horse poo as they all seem to get exported :argh: but Im sure I can win her round :poke:

But all this changed on the weekend when a friend turned up with an idea. His old motor. Now I know this well he has had it for the past 15 years and abused it on lanes but always looked after it mechanically, plus Ive done a lot of welding on the back end. It was my introduction to green lanes so know it well

Sorry Ive dragged this out but you didnt just want me to stick this piccy up did ya Not of this

Have you thought about an Isuzu? My step dads got a LWB Isuzu Trooper Diesel and its a great car.
Sounds like a bit of a tractor but the engine is absolutely bulletproof!
It's got 7 seats in it as well :)

I should add that my dad used to have an old 3.0 v6 trooper as well, still a great car, just a bit more bouncy like the SJ ;)

All good Twiss, thanks, but that ugly brown thing is mine. T and T until October and cost less than I sold the old SJ for

Could be worse Robbie. You might have actually wanted to buy a landrover

If it's cheap and does the job then I'm sure it'll be ok, just don't take it properly offroad, you might cry when you compare it to the Sj  ..........and it might break ;)

Sorry couldn't resist  this means we'll have to come down to Dorset for a spot of greenlaning  (we'll be there to tow you out ;) )

As long as it was cheap, then it's better to have a 4x4 than a pug.

Now save up and get a cheap SJ too...

Needs must / desperate times / growing old and losing your marbles.

If it does the job (and buys you peace from the missus) it's worth it. There is no need for us to go on about it, the shame you feel is punishment enough.
