Had a good day on the sj today....managed to get the old bumper off with the help of Mr :argh: ....tried up the new one ane thought about a new light set up.
After i planed the brackets and other fixings i sorted wat i wanted foe the light set up and went inside the old girl and started playing with the electrics and cutting up the dash for the ignition pannel and lighter.....i must admit i was a tad surprised on how easy it is to hot wire one of these motors  i make no exagerations on this.......a monkey could do it!!

any who.....heres some piccys! ;)

The rear bumper looks good matey!

That was my only spare sticker :bawling: I would just use the lights in complete units and modify the braces in the tailgate  might make it easier and save the sticker

either that, or keep the lights with the indicator cut off and fit some L*nd R*ver indicators as seperate units, the problem with cutting up your exiting lights is you will loose a sectioning piece of plastic, so when your indicators do flash half the light will be lighting up inside your boot! Also Landrover lights are pretty dinky and could be mounted anywhere,

Those round rear landy lights can be a pain though sometimes... just cos they stick out so far back!!!

ive got landy lights on the back of mine, in the bumper where the original lights were, got them at a reasonable price from devon 4x4.

but they do tend to fill with mud and water
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

not much to post but heres a few pics the stud fixing.....
i tapped the holes for a lil bit extra :guns:
Image
gave bout 12-15mm screwed inside the bar, tightened nut and tig'd it..

(updated 20/03/11)
got a few more hrs on the sj today......to be honest nothing has seemed to change :| i have fitted the rear bar but when i did i didnt check twice so the holes i drilled for the studding were wrong by 10mm off centre so spent a 45mins slotting the holes :tosser: then one of the nuts binded on the studding so had to cut it off and clean up the stud but its still not good enough to use so i'll have to run a die down it to make the tread usable again,....but on the up it all fits now :P

the ciggy lighter is in and wired and extended the lines for the starter pannel is done but i was unable to set it up due to the battery being in a coma!
hopefully next sunday will be a lot smoother!
Also picked up my extended break lines today !!!

ah nearly forgot...
didnt get round to painting either

was thinkin of gettin this on the bar with lumo lettering....!

Well its my 700th post so thought it be right to revive my thread and get the sj back on track and the road....as from my last post i havnt done much at all(as a lot of you already know,me and mrs 4eye have had a lil one and has taken up a lot ouf the spare time :P )....but in the last couple of days i pinched a hour or two and now the rear bumper is painted(all black at the mo) and fixed to the sj,....and i ive fixed the starter pannel to the dash,.....so over the wknd im hoping to have that all wired, immobilised and alarmed.

:guns: Its good to be back :guns:
