SJ410 -1985 'Cabrio', engine rebuild
Re: SJ410 -1985 'Cabrio', engine rebuild
I've seen a rear mounted rad once, and the pipes ran basically where the piece of pipe sits in the third picture of your post. not a fan of that way, but I guess it's easy to do, and works
It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out

Personally Im not that big a fan of rear mounted radiators... the idea is great as it keeps the rad out of the mud, but then you have the pipework issue.
Underneath the car they are more vulnerable to damage the longer they are
Inside the car... if theres a problem you may end up being covered in boiling water!

Hmm, I'm still quite set on having a rear rad, one of the reasons being that the Swift engine does not have forward facing hose take offs, they both face towards the gearbox.
Today, I got the handbrake back together and fitted, also put the other two props on.
Bit more underseal around the axles etc.
And introduced the SJ to my Chaly.
Just another thing I noticed today. I jacked the front up under the N/S lower shock mount (Just beneath the axle), and the leaf spring bent past straight, and a little the other way.
I've noticed the rear springs are 4 leaf? Fronts are 3.
Can rear springs be fitted up front?
Ben

Yes. Called RUF for short. I'm sure someone will come along and explain it a lot better than I can!
If it ticks over...leave it

Just done a quick search, looks like they bolt into the rear mounts, but I need to make some brackets to bring the front shackles further forward, and then fit a 1" prop spacer.
All sounds good, but I don't want any more lift on the front.

My 16v vitara engine pointed towards the rear as well.
I found out that the thermostat housing from a 1.0 suzuki alto fits perfectly and points towards the brake servo, and combined with some silicone hose, connects up to the rad just fine

Okay, I will see how I feel once the inlet is fitted up etc.
I still REALLLLLLLY want it in the bed though.
Yesterday, I swapped the rear discs off my spare axle, and onto the pick up. So should have some better brakes for when I take it out next. Stripped and cleaned all 4 calipers too.

Got the mounts boxed in and welded up today. Also gave the manifold a clean and paint.
Christ only knows how I am going to wire up and plumb the carb in. There are about 9 or 10 breather/vacuum pipes, and loads of sensors and wires which the 410 did not have. Hmm.

Have you got a 413 coil to go on it? the 410 one probably won't work so well!
You should upgrade to servo assisted brakes with your new power increase

Should have the Swift coil somewhere.
Wiring is quite different but I am sure I can make it work.
How easy is it to fit a servo on these?
