Did you try adjusting the old carb? if it was running rich why not just lean it off?

the old carb was knackered, the choke butterfly was bent and there was a screw snapped off in it, once I've got it timed up and tuned it should be spot on then..

I have absolutely no idea, the previous owner really did abuse it, good job I got hold of it, still a good few things I need to fix on it, I need a new set of wheels cause on of them is buckled and I want 31's to help the gearing, and cause they look cool 8-) haha do you know a good website that does 15x 10.50 wheels and tires? new to be same offset as wide boy vit wheels..

when it come to gear ratios I get confused lol I've been told that fitting bigger tires should bring the revs down on the engine at motorway speeds, but saying that ita going to need to work twice as hat to get going anywhere though isn't it?

Some people manage to do some strange things to cars

You won't be driving anywhere fast with 31s and standard gearing, they just haven't got the power  I know this from experience, it will get up to speed but takes a lot longer and big hills are a struggle, I personally wouldn't got any bigger than 235/75 tyres on a standard 410. 30" would be the very limit.

Also you don't really want to run off road tyres that are narrower than 12.5" on a 10" wide wheel, they won't hold the bead very well if used off road. For 31x10.50s the widest wheels I would run would be 8"

That pretty much sums it up. Lots of throttle and little speed.

yep, I ran 235 75 15 insa muds on my daily and I worked it out to be doing around 20-22mpg.
and with work and going to my workshop in the evening I do around 40 - 50 miles a day. so it was
getting expensive.

its unlikely to be going off road anytime soon so I've gone for 215 75 15 road tyres on 7j offset rims. id say I average 28-30mpg now. I run my tyres at 32psi not the 20psi Suzuki recommend. I've also got the rear end dropped a bit so it sits level.

£20 of fuel

235/75/15 I used to get 75miles
195/80/15 I would get 115miles

on a daily that's quite a difference.

id like to do LPG at some point :doublethumbs:
