ok, well i fitted the wheel tonight, and i dont like it

the wheel its self is very chunky, solid and a suzuki item, however, the offset is too great and leaves me little room for my arms

also cant reach the indicator stalks with hands on the wheel

oh well back to square 1,

looks and feels good, just sticks out too far, so that will be up for sale soon

also got another picture of the exhaust now fitted in the daylight



also think i have found a spot for the PAS pump, it is quite big, but am going to mount it here



I will use something a bit more sturdy than a bungie.

Where it is i should be able to use the Vitara PAS pipes, and give it good clearence.

looks like a trip to the scrappy's is in order for a bracket and some other bits

Looking Tidy, does the exhaust position make it any louder?

Shame about the steering wheel it looks quite smart.

Looks like a good position for the pump but id consider some sort of heat shield, I'd expect it to get quite hot by there.

Yeah........ it is a tad loud when you are on the loud pedal, especially with the small high flow exhaust and the janspeed, but hey, if it gets too loud, i shall throw another box in somewhere.

yeah the pump is not too bad, may do a heat shield will see how hit it gets, it is quite a high power high amp electric motor so probably gets hot on its own, but we will see, might wrap the exhaust manifold at some point too (just because it looks cool)

Update time

Took it for an MOT yesterday

I failed

however i knew it would as still havent replaced the screen (they did manage to make it worse though) the failure sheet is actually quite basic

Screen cracked
Wheel stud off near side rear elongated (has a mish mash of nuts on it that dont fit)
Emissions too high (4.03%) hc were fine though
Rear brake pipe fouling moving parts
Rear brake pipe insecurely fastened (cable tie job)

so all in all not to bad, need to see if i can lean the vit carb in a bit, get the screen fitted thro some cable ties on it and hey presto another years off roading ahead of me, and once mot'd the rear modding can begin, can you say, coils?

That's not to bad to be fair, shouldn't take much to get it done. I would have thought the windscreen would be the worst one to sort.

Update again

Yesterday with a list of MOT fails in one hand, and a friend on hand, we decided to go for it, and get the PAS done so basically nothing done for the mot, but i do have power steering

I basically started again with this one, the pump i had was missing several bits, the bracket, wireing, the relay PAS pipes ect ect, so we went to the scrappy and got a complete fresh system off of a Saxo with all the PAS pipes, wireing loom and relay, and with very little work, we had it all in in an hour

the main feed from the pump to the box is actually the saxo pipe, no cutting welding, just a nice clean straight pipe that runs over the cam/rocker cover

the return is not as high pressure so we used the Vitata return with some rubber pipe tweekage

on this pump, the resovoir was a divorced unit so that is up by the washer bottle

all in all, quite happy with it, i can now sit on my drive and turn from lock to lock using only the palm of one hand on the wheel

didnt take many pictures during as we just got on and did it, (it was bloody cold) however here are some of the fitted unit

I used the jimmy box, bolted straight up to the chassis nice clean swap, might have to swap the drop arms over though but for now works ok
