Murphy's been at it again!

Decided to try and sort out the little bit of blowing that's been getting between the manifold and front pipe today. Turned out there were only two nuts holding the pipe to the manifold, which explains how it started blowing in the first place. Must have been like that when we got it 2 years ago. We found some shallow thread nuts the right size, flanged too, and put gum gum on the end of the front pipe and I was bolting it back together when one of the studs gave up and stripped, really really easily. It was barely finger tight.

Next step, manifold off, new studs on the bottom, probably new into the block too. New gaskets. etc.

I hate Murphy's law.

Just realised I haven't posted in here for ages.

Got new studs and gaskets for the manifold ages ago, bolted it all back together and now it's sealed up nice. No leaks at all and I didn't even have to put any sealant on.

In other news, had the top of the carb in bits the other day because I'd found that if I pinched the fuel in hose, the revs picked up quite a bit then dropped off as it became starved of fuel completely. opened up the float chamber and adjusted the float a little bit by feel so that it would shut off the needle valve a bit earlier and now my truck runs better than ever. When I first started it after putting everything back together it must have easily been doing about a 3000 rpm idle.

No offence mate, but I'm not gonna sell this in a million years. I love it too much. I'd rather run it into the ground.

Luke just pointed out that I was on my nine hundred and ninety ninth post, so I thought "to hell with it", I'll stick a post in my build thread to get to four digits.

Think I might give the truck a wash and polish tomorrow to celebrate. Rub off some of the rust stains and such like. Might give Cookie's a call to, which I've been threatening to do for a while, and ask 'em about gaskets and belts.

Congratulations your officially an SJ geek now, not that you needed a 1000 posts to prove it! I know I certainly didn't! Keep up the hard work & don't forget regular photos!
