Right then I thought it was probably about time I took some photos of my leg, Its just over a month since my surgery and my leg is growing back nicely, at the end of today my leg will be 24mm longer than it was, which is almost half way to my target of 55mm. My leg is looking loads better and Isn’t as fat as it was.

Pain isn’t too bad but I’m still not weight bearing, In fact I’ve not been using my leg at all, I had an infection scare a week or so ago but it turned out to be an irritated pinsite, The pins in my foot are the worst, and they can be painful, my foot gets swollen if I put to the ground so I’m spending a lot of time with it elevated. Another problem with lengthening my leg is I need to keep my leg straight alot of the time or the muscle doesn’t stretch with it and I’m left with a leg I wouldn’t be able to straighten, Sometimes I have to sit with an oven glove over my knee with a tin of soup in each pocket.

It's not so bad and it won't be long until its the correct length, I'm looking forward to having matching legs!

Nice!

how does it work then? do they break it and then slowly stretch it by adjusting the frame work every couple of days?

basicly!

I went in on the 23rd where they rebroke the bone, I then waited 10days for the marrow to knit back together and now I adjust the frame 4 times a day, There are 4 adjusters on the frame and I give them a quater turn each time, slowly and steadily it pulls the bone apart and stretchs the marrow out, when its the right length I just leave it for about 10months and the stretched marrow grows its own new coating of hard bone and ta da, fixed!

You're going to be in that cage for a while then. That's a bummer.

honestly its not to bad, I can live with the leg frame (I mean I've already had it on about 7 months now!) and it doesn't really stop you doing to much, but the foot frame is more of a hinderance, I can't wait to get it off!
