Signed both. Haven't heard from my MP (just a secretary in my MP's office who asked for more details, but hasn't responded to the email I sent with more details). I don't think greenlanes are a big priority for an inner-city MP who's 60 miles from the nearest greenlane.
:(

Good job Robbie!
Anton, you're right, it probably isn't a priority. However, by making them aware that it is important to their constituents (who elect them and essentially keep them in a job!), you would hope that they would make some effort to respond.
I haven't had a reply to the second letter I sent yet. I'm going to write another one if I don't get one back by the end of the week.
WriteToThem offer this advice if you don't get a reply:

Don't give up though! My skeptical nature leads me to believe that is often what they hope will happen. If you persist, they will have to do something about it. I'm pretty sure my MP hates me, however I think she's starting to realise that when I contact her she has to respond otherwise it gets worse when I have to go and see her. If she doesn't reply to the next letter I send then I will make an appointment at one of her "surgeries" and confront her face to face again. I'm pretty sure she didn't have a great time last time that happened.

Done.
I hope these stupid ramblers don't ruin our passion
, hobbies and fun. It gets me so mad that they can decide that because we are in vehicles we are all hooligans! The fact is they cause the same if not more nuisance whilst they are out, walking on the public roads and parking in awkward places in the masses, it's just not on!

What is the current status of this? Is it still worth me writing to my MP?

Ju to be honest I would still write to them, it's an election year so your MP and their equally useless peers will be scrambling for every vote they can get. Write to each of your candidates and ask them what their stance is on protecting vehicular access to public rights of way as it's an important issue and will effect how you vote. Make it clear that you expect a concise response rather than the usual generic waffle they send out as it will affect your decision.

My MP Nick Raynsford has never got back to me. As we have no greenlanes in this constituency, I guess he's decided it's a non-issue. I only ever heard from his secretary, who asked for more details. I wrote back with some more details (amount of byways open to all traffic vs restricted byways open to foot traffic etc etc) but never heard from her again. Did try emailing to ask if they'd read it and if they could give an opinion. A couple of times. Didn't get a response.
To be honest, Nick is a local businessman. He owns lots and lots of properties. If it doesn't involve property and/or his other businesses, he seems utterly disinterested.
It's clear to me that he's not interested in the constituents, he's in office to look after number 1.

To be honest I'd print that post you just wrote, post it to him and tell him that his lack of interest in his constituents is precisely why you won't be voting for him!

I think green laners came out quite well in that documentary, a refreshing change!

Yes, and I think that the selfish bat at the end came off a bit of a selfish bat.
"There should be flowers growing here"
It's a road, not the middle of Kew Gardens. So we should not be able to enjoy the countryside in the manner we choose because she want more flowers growing by the roadside.
Anyone else think that the English countryside is lacking in flowers? Or is it just her?
