Less power than a carb'd 1.3 8V + hits peak power at higher revs + no low down torque + turbo lag + a vehicle that weighs 200kg more than a cappuccino
Yeah would be awesome
Think I'd rather tune a 1.3

haha its the same hp as a G13A engine... and only 10 less ft/lb of torque
those engines hardly have any turbo lag anyway... and anyway... you know I like high revving
and getting almost 40mpg sounds good to me!

Cappuccino engines are good when they're in cappuccino's. They're not suited to SJs. The higher revs isn't the problem, it's the torque and power curves. They're like bike engines, nothing at the bottom end. I think a 16 valve G16 would be a much better option, or an F10D....
If you really want boost I think a supercharger makes more sense.

heheh well i've already got the 16v and a supercharger will have to be bought at some point!
my point is though suzuki are still making brand new jimnys with the 660 turbo IC engine in them, and have been using that engine in SJs since the early 80s so it can't be that bad!!!

The only reason is to fit the car into the kei class Twiss, this means you can buy one without an allocated parking space where you live and they are cheaper to tax and insure. It's nothing to do with performance
Oh and the g13 has 3bhp more at 500 rpm less

lol i know its not to do with performance... I've got my 16v samurai for that!
but if I was going to fit one it would be for the following reasons:
a) something interesting to do
b) cheaper on fuel
c) turbo!!! (dump valve needed lol)
d) engine weighs a lot less than a 410 one
e) timing chain, not cambelt
f) nobody else would have one

Besides you know I would convert one to run on electricity despite the fact that with today's batteries it's a waste of time
I don't do projects because they are practical, I do them because they are different and interesting!
If I wanted practical I wouldn't own an SJ in the first place lol

It would definitely be interesting, but I think point F would be false, as they've been selling 660cc turbo Sammies in Japan for years, haven't they? Kai car regs?
I doubt Suzuki would make a whole new engine, it's either the same one, or a variant of the one in the Cappuchino... Makes sense to me, at least...

Anton.... I meant nobody else around here would have one
and its a K6 engine I believe.... DOHC I3 660cc

I know you're not seriously considering it, but...
I think that, since Suzuki get silly power/torque out of a NA 600cc gixxer, if you were to swap in gixxer throttlebodies (maybe from a 1000cc or even a busa) and a bigger (perhaps variable vane to increase low end torque) turbo - you could probably see 100hp or more out of a Cappuccino engine. I'm sure someone in Japan has done already.
That could stand up really well to your G16, at least on the road...
Having said that, if you *really* want a car that no-one else has, think of swapping in the 1.2 TDI out of a VW Lupo 3L. Inc turbo etc, it's lighter (by a shade) than a G13a. With a little tuning and a better turbo, they've been pushed to 120hp and 200ft/lb in Lupo's (double standard output, basically).
That'd be a rather good fit for a Zuk, I think. Just - waaaaaay too much work.
