Good stuff. Always liked the mini body swaps but thought they sat too high off the chassis. Sounds like you want it lower so this should turn out nice.

sorry ive been busy lately but we have got some more done.
weve cut out the transmission tunnel and firewall out of the old shell.
and cut the firewall out of the mini to mate them together.
by doing this were going to keep all the standard pedals steering and connections so it should mean almost everything will fit and work reliably when its finished.

we have got it all cut and matched to fit properly.
also we have the firewall tacked in place and have built and shaped a new floor pan in the drivers side, which is also tacked in place now.
unfortunately this is the only photo i have of it in place

also picked up a full 2 piece fiberglass front end which was a similar price to the front panel that we needed.

the current plan is to paint it in fluorescent orange paint, partly because it look cool, and partly because i have a gallon of it in the garage lol

also if you look carefully at the pictures you will see how low it is now sat on the chassis rails

This is going to look fantastic!
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

the gearstick/pedals are in the position they would be in on a standard sj,they are all too far back for a mini so the seat will be mounted too far back for a mini.
it was either move the seat back or try to squeeze the pedals in a very small foot well so we went for the option which would keep the drive-ability and comfort.
its a compromise we are willing to make.

it would have been different if we hadnt decided to drop the shell onto the chassis as far as we have but we think its more important to have it sitting right and looking right on the outside then it is to have the driving position in the standard mini place

also the paint isnt just orange its industrial fluorescent orange safety paint.i also have a gallon of white base coat to bring out the brightness of the colour, and i have a gallon of fluorescent yellow paint aswell lol
