i was thinking about losing the body lift and also taking out a leaf as like you said it looks top heavy and its also taller than my Discovery.It doesnt feel safe and feels like it could be tipped over quite easily but also it doesnt do your kidneys much good either with it being so stiff!
Even when its jacked up on one side the opposite wheel will also come off the ground.I have tried different ways to make it flex but theres no way its going to happen the way it is at the moment.

What size are the tyres? the lift shackles probably won't help to be honest! They mess up your caster angle and also steepen the shackle angle and that effectively increases the spring rate.
If your tyres are 30" or under I would loose the body lift and fit some standard shackles.
To be honest I would do that anyway if it was my vehicle and trim the arches to clear the tyres if they catch (you can fold the seam over on the bulkhead to gain 1" tyre clearance) I don't like them lifted more than 2" in the suspension and can't stand body lifts!

I read somewhere that if you open up the metal clamps on the spring packs it will allow the springs to fan out more and give you slightly more flex. Only on the front springs though, if you do it on the back it will cause axle wrap.

Well today i have a pulled a leaf from each spring and it is still quite firm but is 100 times better! The height difference is minimal but the ride is now bareable and its road manners have also improved.I have left the rear shocks still in their modified position due to them not having much travel left if put back onto the original spring plates. I am now looking for some standard shackles or to drill the ones i already have fitted to fetch the steering back to as standard as i can get it.The body lift i think im going to leave mainly coz ive had enough and it looks like its going to be a pain to do!
If there is anybody close to Oldham near Manchester who has some standard shackles please give me a shout.

Pleased it's behaving better bud. Nothing worse that thinking your about to die or break your spine every time you go out.
At least now once the springs are a bit softer or if it starts to lose its height you can just bang the leaf back in.

yeah will do but it will be tomorrow now coz of the dark. On the rear springs it said SUZ 4+1 so does this mean it has had an extra leaf put in?

On the back I think it's 4 leafs and +1 helper spring as in the flat leaf on the bottom, this helps fight spring wrap. glad it's helped soften the ride up! I could never be bothered to do mine and just swapped to YJ springs in the end.
If you do ever want to remove the body lift it should only take an hour or two to remove, just loosen all the body mounts, jack one side up, pull out the lift, lower it and do the same on the other side.
what angle do the shackles sit at now the leaf is removed, might actually be fine to leave them if they have ended up a bit less vertical, longer shackles can help give a bit more droop travel as long as they are set up right. Out of interest how long are they between the bolts?

Hi, front shackles are now slightly facing forward instead of vertical and they are roughly 4" between bolts.All the bolts in the body lift look like they are going to be a mission to undo so i think this is a job for a sunny day and a bit warmer as i have to work outside!

The Suzuki standard is 3 on the front and 3+1 at the rear. The "+1" is a short straight leaf that I think limits the upward travel.

Sounds good They are only 30mm longer than standard so I'd probably leave them on and loose the body lift, don't forget to set up the bumpstops though so that they stop the springs going past flat under compression, it will improve the life of the springs and also act as a pivot to force the other side to droop more
